NASRI TO ARSENAL

May 21, 2008

French international Samir Nasri is expected to complete his 12.5 million Pound move to English club Arsenal on Wednesday.

The 20-year-old midfielder will travel to London to undergo a medical and agree personal terms, according to the French daily L’Equippe.

The Algerian-descended playmaker only recently signed a new contract designed to keep him at Stade Velodrome until 2012, but it has since emerged the deal includes a release clause set at around 12 million Pounds.

Nasri is expected to replace the unsettled Aleksandr Hleb, who has received strong interest from Inter Milan and has recently been linked with Barcelona.

Gunner boss Arsene Wenger has maintained that big players will be sought ahead of big names and the bid to Nasri’s inclusion in the squad is a reiteration of that thought.

After the medical, Nasri will be taken on a tour of the Emirates Stadium. He will then fly back to Clairefontaine where the France national team is stationed for their pre-Euro 2008 training camp.
